A family delights in reading together, exchanging stories, and strengthening bonds as they gather around a good book!

To support reading volume at home, I have included resources that you can use to encourage reading by building a habit of reading. This is not about monitoring minutes, pages, etc.; this is about cultivating a habit at home that fosters a child’s love of learning. Many people say the goal of reading is comprehension, but I will quote Hugh Catts from Florida State University School, “the goal of reading is to learning something new.”

You have multiple reading logs based on your child’s age. One of my favorite books is Atomic Habits by James Clear, which does an excellent job of sharing practical tips for developing positive habits that can transform our lives. Make a habit stick, it must be 1) make it obvious,  2) make it attractive, and  3) make it easy. Hopefully, you will find that the reading logs are beneficial as you cultivate or strengthen literacy skills in the home.
