In all of APEX's virtual lessons, we engage in a quickwrite to strengthen our students' writing muscles. When learners translate thoughts into words, they must activate multiple areas of their brain, including those responsible for language, memory, and executive function. Regular writing not only improves memory but also elevates language skills and a child's emotional regulation, which means that when a child writes, they foster their intellect, promote better social skills, and support their overall emotional health! Writing for the win!
Quickwrites are short bursts of writing, and in our lessons, students typically have 3-4 minutes to capture their thoughts on paper. After completing, they take 3-5 minutes to edit and build their writing confidence. In this post, I share three fun quickwrites from education.com for you to utilize to foster writing growth and development while sparking new ideas and creativity in your child.
Happy Writing!!
